On
details...
As much of a joy as I have found scratchbuilding
to be, handmade models vary from piece to piece. I decided to
prototype all of my details in styrene, then cast them in resin.
That way I only have to make ONE perfect piece, instead of multiple
"almost identical" pieces. This is a big deal for
a perfectionist like me, especially when so many of the pieces
are either so time-intensive to make just one piece, or they
are positioned so close to each other that discrepancies would
be painfully obvious. Not to mention the time this will save
in future droid-building ventures.
So here it is: how I made all the details, pieces and greeblies
for R2, separated by area for your convenience.
